Ideas of how to have fun supporting your child at home – learning can be fun!
We are a mixed year 1/2 class taught by Miss Ellis and supported by Mrs Smith.
We have P.E every Wednesday. Could you please remind children to have PE kits and reading books in school everyday. To change your reading book children are reminded that they can change these themselves, these need to be handed in to the green basket everyday they will then be checked by myself or Mrs Smith.
Homework is handed out on a Friday and collected in on the following Wednesday.
This term our Topic is Rio De Vida.
Come and see our rainforest within the classroom. The children have helped create a rainforest experience within our classroom, how many animals can you see? What can you hear? Have you seen the chameleon?
We have been learning all about rainforest animals and we will be creating our own fact files all about our chosen animal. We have been exploring their Habitat, Diet and Appearance. Come and see our fabulous rainforest facts!
We will also be exploring the vibrant and colourful Rio de Vida carnival, learning all about what a carnival is and creating our own musical instruments and headdresses.
As you will be aware Phonics is a huge focus within Year 1. Your child has an online login to allow them to read and access our phonics books online, these are as an optional extra to their home reading book.

For pronunciation of phonemes there are a number of youtube videos you can listen to. You will have noticed an attachment of appropriate sounds within your child's yellow reading record these are to support with reading at home.
