We have started this year by focussing on numbers, learning how to recite them in order and also recognising them out of order. The children have enjoyed singing songs and playing games to enhance their number learning.
In order to link with the learning theme of " It's only a game show !" we have enjoyed describing colour and size of teddies and then explaining which ones we like and dislike using J'aime and Je n'aime pas. We are now starting to describe a variety of toys and express our preferences.... These activities enabled the youngest children to be introduced to colour and older children to extend their colour vocabulary. The oldest children in the school have been introduced to noun/ adjective agreements through this part of the theme.
The older children are writing toy shopping lists and we will be role playing buying toys in a shop. Asking and answering questions is key to this and we have taken this opportunity to refresh and extend our knowledge of personal questions.

Hi, I am Madame Milsom,
I teach French to all the children throughout the school, from reception to year 6!
The children enjoy learning new vocabulary through a variety of approaches including songs and stories.
Last year we all experienced a French day, where the children were involved in a making crepes, playing French games, and creating a French dance and art work.
At lunchtime the children were expected to order their lunch , in French from the school's French market. They needed to pay for their food using the correct amount of Euros and enjoyed listening to some traditional French music whilst they ate.
