Celebrating the Important Role of School Libraries

Books shape our world and provide children with a spectrum of ideas and stories which are waiting to be explored. That’s why The Manor Primary School is proud to be joining schools around the world in celebrating International School Library Month.

Organised globally by the International Association of Librarians, this month is an opportunity for children to learn more about books, enhance their knowledge, and discover the joy of the written word. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Let’s Imagine’. Imagination is key to creativity and libraries are a place where all ages are free to learn, think, and grow.

Literacy provides children with the building blocks for success. Weaker reading and writing skills are often damaging to other important academic and social skills. That is why we place such an emphasis on proficiency in literacy at our school. By establishing high standards in reading at an early age, our pupils are given a push towards success in their learning.

We are excited to be taking part in this event as we continue to promote the link between literacy, creativity, and academic progress.
